Integrity

Integrity is a curious thing. It takes a lifetime to accrue but can vaporize in milliseconds. Claiming it for yourself is pointless–you can’t possess it because others must ascribe it. You can only seem to ‘have’ it to the extent you haven’t lost it.

  1. Probably disagree with you on this one, but can’t know for sure until you define your terms. What is integrity? If it is being consistent to one’s beliefs, then it is quite possible to have integrity even if no one thinks you do.

    • I don’t know if I have a handle on defining integrity. Maybe that’s why I’m curious about it. To the extent that one’s beliefs change over time, it might be said that acting in a way consistent with beliefs would compromise their integrity, if by integrity they meant steadfastness to a certain belief indefinitely. Thoughts?
