London, like every city, is home to a wide range of inhabitants who think about the world in unique and different ways. Just listen to a radio call-in show. That is exactly what Alan Coombs has been doing for years.

Alan joins us to share what he has learned about Londoners as a radio show host. In this conversation, we’ll delve into some big questions: How do you invite someone who has ‘absolutely made up their mind’ to consider an issue from a different perspective? How can media tell both sides of a story without becoming an inadvertent platform for hate or polarization? How can we circumvent the vitriol of today’s ‘comment sections’ to have constructive dialogue?

Alan has been in radio broadcast scene in London for eight years. Over the course  of his broadcasting career, he has worked news desks, sports programs, and hosted interview shows. He hosts the London @ Large afternoon program on Newstalk 1290 CJBK and is an announcer with London Lightning.
